Sara’s Device Turned On

Sara got her device turned on today! (May 9)

They started today by turning the device on and setting it with a low voltage (0.25 millivolts). They will continue to raise the voltage over the next year or so, up to a maximum of 3.0 millivolts.

We are grateful that Sara is not feeling some of the more painful and annoying side effects! It sounds like there is only a small tightening in her throat. This is good, as that means the doctors will be able to turn it up faster.

We are thankful that Sara seems to be adjusting well. We continue to pray that God would use this new therapy to heal Sara, and we ask that he would grant us patience as this will be a long process.

Thank you for your prayers!!!

Oh yeah… make sure you check out Mark’s new story: Batter Up!

The Scheduled Surgery

The DeviceThe surgery has been scheduled for April 24, 3 weeks away!!!! The surgeon was reassuring about the surgery being very minimally invasive, and Sara feels good about him preforming the surgery. Getting a date was harder than anticipated, and we are grateful that God granted it.

The LocationAdditionally, ALL the money needed has come in, with abundant surplus!!! Thank you sooo much to all who have made this burden so much lighter. It has been beautiful and amazing to watch God provide with such abundance even. The family of God is truly a precious thing–I treasure all of you, and thank you for being such a blessing to my family. I wish I had the exact numbers to report, but I don’t as they seem hard to pin down.

We continue to seek your prayers… That God would work through this surgery to help my sister…. Thank you!

PS. Mark wrote another story! Check it out!

The Successful BBQ

Our fund raising BBQ was a fantastic success!!!!

SueOur church family and our great community pulled together and put on a Santa Maria style BBQ to help raise money for Sara’s surgery. Thanks to the very hard work of many loved ones and the amazing generosity of all, a profit of $14,560 was raised!!!!

A very sincere thank you to those who came all the way from Oxnard PD and Ventura County Sheriff’s, bringing with them a very generous gift!!!

Warm Fire. Our family also humbly thanks all who were involved in putting this on. You were all tremendous; it was a lot of hard work! Know that we understand how blessed we are to have you in our lives (although, I’m sure we don’t appreciate you half as much as you deserve!). Many thanks to our organizers: the Kliewer and Franklin families.

Good Looking ChickenHow bountifully our God supplies our needs!!! The day was full of excellent food, great fellowship and a tremendous outpouring of support. It was beautiful. If you weren’t able to make it—you missed out on the food, but you can relive the day by visiting our pictures section!

When you’re done reliving the BBQ… Relax over a good new story from Randy Janes! (Thanks Randy!)

We do still plead for your prayers. Sara had a disappointment last Wednesday—the surgeon’s office called and canceled her appointment an hour before it was scheduled (for no reason that we know of). This was after they had already driven down! Most frustrating was that they rescheduled for March 28th, which obviously sets back the surgery. Still, we know that our hope is not in doctors or new procedures. We ask for prayers that Sara’s brain would stay safe until the surgery. Also, please be praying that this surgery would be the means that God would chose to heal her. We are confident that His plan and ways are best!!

Again, thank you, thank you for your prayers. It is a blessing to be so supported!
